An Iconic Athlete From Indiana Memorialized Forever By Community

Last summer, Jim Nance, an Indiana High School graduate who is famous for his athletic prowess, was honored among four others on the Walk of Fame as part of the North Appalachian Folk Fest.

A few months later, on November 3, 2018, a historical marker in his honor was placed in front of the Indiana County Courthouse.

Jim Nance excelled in wrestling, football. and track in high school. He was a PIAA and NCAA wrestling champion, and an elite running back at Syracuse University. He was also a standout with the Boston/New England Patriots and the American Football League’s all-time leading rusher.

The marker was sponsored by NAFF Inc., and a spaghetti dinner held on September 28 funded much of the cost.
